The festive party season is underway, and Christmas is only a few weeks away.
From the office party to Christmas dinner, and from Christmas shopping to kisses under the mistletoe, looking and feeling great is vital to make it through the festive season successfully.
Our handy guide brings together some useful tips to make sure you can easily beat the Christmas stress to look and feel amazing and relaxed.
1. Plan Your Outfits Ahead
With so many parties to attend, family functions and hardly a second to spare, planning your outfits is an essential part of festive planning. Spend an evening ahead of the festivities trying on some of the clothes you think you’ll want to wear. This way, you can take a relaxed approach and experiment with your look. Hang your outfits in your wardrobe, and cut out those last minute outfit searches!
2. Plan Your Social Calendar Where Possible
By planning your calendar in advance, you can also schedule some down time. Whether it’s an afternoon or an early night at home, try to have at least one day where you can relax. By planning your calendar, you’ll also feel more organised and happier about the festive period.
3. Get Some Sleep
Recharging the batteries is an essential part of any party season, and you’ll also be giving your immune system a boost too. Try to get 7-8 hours where possible, and if needs be, have a nap when things quieten down!
4. Take Vitamin C
At what is essentially quite a stressful time of year, our immune system can take a hit. The last thing you want at Christmas is a cold or flu, so dose up on Vitamin C, through a supplement and plenty of fruit and veg.
5. Don’t Skip Meals
During the festive season, it can be easy to get out of your routine and miss meals such as breakfast or lunch. Where possible, try to ensure you eat well in between the indulgence! That way, you’ll keep the energy levels high!
6. Prepare A “Quick Party Prep” Kit
Be ready for a last minute party with just a moment’s notice. A “quick party prep” kit will make sure you’re ready to join colleagues at that impromptu night out, or you’re ready to head out on the town at the drop of a hat! Dry shampoo, tan, and some basic makeup essentials mean you can be ready to head out in no time.
7. Stay Hydrated
Alcohol is a favourite way to beat Christmas stress. Enjoy the festive season and all the indulgences that come with it. But, to avoid those hangovers that threaten to hamper your busy social schedule, drink lots of water in between those glasses of wine, beer or bubbles!
8. Look After Your Feet!
Before the season arrives, give your feet a little TLC. Whether it’s dancing on the dancefloor or standing in the kitchen, they’re going to have a hard time over the next couple of weeks, so get them buffed and moisturised in advance.
9. Enjoy Yourself And Be Happy
Finally, while there are lots of survival tips in this article, our most important one is this. Christmas is one of the best times of year, so enjoy those parties and special moments, and be happy. By being thankful and having a level of gratitude for the time you are spending with friends and family, your overall wellbeing will also improve.
